Obituary

Stoughton Wis. Phyllis Jean Foss, 91 passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Skaalen Retirement Services peacefully while visiting with a family member. She was born in Stoughton on Jan. 28, 1935 to William and Myrtle (Reindahl) Snyder.

Phyllis graduated from Edgerton High School in 1953 and later that year married the love of her life, Harland Foss, on September 5, 1953. She and Harland spent their early years together farming, first in Cooksville, then Utica, and later Edgerton. After retiring from farming, they moved to Monona Grove before eventually settling in Illinois, where they remained until Harland's passing. Phyllis later returned to Wisconsin, living first in Edgerton and then in Stoughton. She and Harland loved traveling the country in their RV, creating many cherished memories together. Phyllis also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, dining out, and relaxing with Hallmark Channel movies.

Phyllis is survived by her brother, Roger Snyder of Stoughton, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Wayne (Pat) Foss of Marion, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Barb Snyder of Madison, Wisconsin; her devoted housekeeper and friend of 17 years, Pam Annon; and many cherished nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Cress Funeral Service, 206 N. Page Street, Stoughton. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the service at the Otis Sampson American Legion, 803 N. Page Street, Stoughton.

A private urn burial at Riverside Cemetery in Stoughton will be held at a later date.

Family is deeply grateful to the staff at Skaalen Retirement Services for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they showed Phyllis throughout her time there
