Madison - Philip L. Talty, age 89, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on September 14, 1926 to Leo and Ruby (White) Talty in Green Bay. Phil was in the South Pacific for a couple of years, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was present at the end of the war during Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and at the surrender of the Japanese. Sergeant Philip Talty received a Bronze Star Metal for his distinguished service. Following the war, Philip graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Philip is survived by his son, Michael Talty (Frank Doonan); his sister, Beverly; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
