Cross Plains - Philip R. Otto, age 52, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, March 30, 2012.
He was born on May 30, 1959 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, a son of Robert and Noreen (Phillips) Otto. Phil graduated from Kaukauna High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Later, he achieved a Master of Science at University of Wisconsin-Madison in Educational Counseling and worked at Ethan Allen School, a Division of Juvenile Corrections, for 20 years before transferring to Oakhill Correctional Institution.
Phil was a member of the Claudia Melrose Dance Company, which is how he met, and eventually married, the love of his life, Peggy (Cheslak). Though they were two people with two hearts and two souls, together they were one. They shared a love and commitment to each other that was more than words could express. The happiest moment of their lives was the birth of their beautiful daughter, Sara, who instantly became the center of their world. The three of them shared an inseparable bond. Together, they cared for many pets, took unforgettable family vacations, and shared priceless memories. Sara will always remember her dad as her biggest hero, the man who was her strongest advocate and constant supporter. He will be with Peggy and Sara in everything they do and will forever be in our hearts.
Phil was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Lisa Otto. He is survived by his wife, daughter, father, siblings, Mike (Pat) Otto, Amy (Dave) Manke and Kathy (Tom) Whitten; several nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
