Philip John “Phil” Gray, 85, of DeForest passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Waunakee Valley Assisted Living.

Phil was born on November 10, 1940 to John and Sylvia (Premo) Gray. On December 16, 1967 Phil married Sharon Riedner. Phil worked at Transport Station for many years, and then Sub-Zero Refrigeration for over 30 years. He would also snowplow and mow lawns for churches and friends.

Phil was a Boy Scout leader of Pack #155. He accomplished sobriety for 42 years attending AA meetings in Northport and DeForest, where Phil was an avid member and helped many other members, and cherished gifting coins for their sobriety milestones. Phil was a Safe Rider before Safe Riders were a thing.

He enjoyed car shows, watching the Packers and NASCAR, Harley Davidson -even though he had a Gold Wing and had it super glued together. You could always find pens, markers, and mints in his pockets.

Phil is survived by his wife, Sharon Gray; children, Jeff (Cathy) Gray, William (Pam) Gray, Sheila (John) Otto; grandkids, Brad (Eva), Drew, Jarrett, Brianna (Chuck); and great-grandkids, Mary, Geri, Addison, Hunter, and Remington; and sister Wanda (Robert) Krause.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sylvia Gray.

A memorial service will take place at 5PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Cress Funeral Service, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. Visitation will take place from 2PM until the time of service.
