Evansville- Philip LaFollette Douglas, "Phil" age 81, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2013 in his home. Phil was the only child of Reed and Evelyn Douglas born on September 1, 1931 in Monroe. He was a 1951 graduate of Verona High School prior to joining the military where he served for two years during the Korean War. He was an ardent member of the VFW Post #328.
On June 19, 1954, Phil was united in marriage to Mildred Edwards at St. John's Lutheran Church in Evansville. Phil was a salesman for most of his life. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Philip is survived by a son, Reed Douglas, of Glendale, AZ; granddaughters, Stephanie (Benjamin) Griggs of Watertown, and Meghan (Russell) Robinson of El Mirage, AZ; grandson, Jeffrey (Emily) Henderson of Appleton. He is the beloved great grandfather of Adrianna, Kennedy, and Isabella Griggs all of Watertown, and Dominic, Jasmine, and Alexia Robinson of El Mirage, AZ. He is also survived by a very special friend and fianc�e, Judy Jorgenson of Evansville; and cousin and friend Pat Gundlach. Phil's dog, Mitzy, remained at his side during his last moments here on Earth. He was loved by many other cousins, aunts and uncles, neighbors, friends, and family members as well.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Douglas; a son, Todd Douglas; daughter, Anne Louise Henderson; and grandson, Thomas Michael Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow at the VFW Post #328. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
