Peter Hill

Sun Prairie - Peter Hill, age 92, died on June 9, 2024, at his home in Sun Prairie.

He was born on August 6, 1931 in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Irene (Morris) and Theodore Hill. He enjoyed telling stories about growing up in Taylorville with his two brothers and his 12 Catholic School classmates (nicknamed The Dirty Dozen). He served in the Marine Corps for 21 years and was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. In 2015, Pete was thrilled to be on a Badger Honor Flight to our nation's capital. On December 9, 1952 he married the love of his life Charlene (Brickson) and spent 72 wonderful years together. If you ever met him you know he was a talker that loved telling long stories, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed the company of family and friends, and was happiest with a baby in his arms.

He is survived by his wife Charlene (Brickson); their children; Susan Hill, Peter (Gina) Hill, Katherine (Ken) Jordan; five grandchildren, Steven (Jenna) Hill, Tracy (Brett) Barker, Danny (Ashton) DeRusha, Jake Jordan and Caitlyn Jordan; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 

In his 92 years of life he was preceded in death by his parents (Anna Irene and Theodore Hill), 2 brothers and their wives (Bill and Sadie, “Dick” and Marilyn), an infant brother (Philip), a daughter (Christine) and a granddaughter (Casey).

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Wednesday June 19, 2024. A private family burial with military honors will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.

The family would like to thank the Sun Prairie EMS, Fire Department, Police Department (especially officer Brandon Reigstad), the medical examiner and the people of Cress Funeral Home for their hard work and kindness.
