Paul Smith

Madison - Paul A. Smith, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, after a brief illness at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison.  He was born on February 14, 1946, in Reedsburg, the son of Lester Smith and Joyce (Shea) Smith.

Paul was a lifelong Madison resident.  He married the love of his life, Lois L. Montague, on July 14, 1970.  They continued a marriage full of love for 41 years until Lois passed away.

Paul took pride in working.  His longest career was spent working at Oscar Mayer, in Madison, for 30 plus years where he retired.  Thereafter, he spent his time keeping busy doing many odd jobs, mostly janitorial.  He also took pride in his other love, his car.

Paul is survived by his stepdaughters Cynthia Meister, Sun Prairie, WI; Susan (Rob Sommer) Montague, Davidson, NC; brother Ralph (Carol) Smith, Oregon, WI; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Proceeded in death by his wife, Lois L. Smith; his stepdaughters Gail Montague and Janet Lovick; son's-in-law Ronnie Meister and Terry Harmon; as well as two brothers (John and David and two sisters (Ruth and Mary).

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday Sept 12, 2022, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Monday.
