Patrick J. Scott passed away with the love and support of family April 14, 2026. He was 70 years young and gone too soon.
Patrick was born in Medford WI to Raymond and Ruth Mary (Kelly) Scott May 16, 1955. He was born with hip dysplasia but through surgical repair and a cart built by his father he went on to great feats of athletic accomplishment in running, swimming, biking, skiing, water skiing, jet skiing, ATVing, and motorcycling, to name a few. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts earning 64 merit badges. In his early 20’s he rode his bike from Medford, WI to San Francisco, CA!
Patrick attended school at Holy Rosary Catholic School and Medford Senior High. He graduated from UW Madison School of Medicine and residency at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, WI. Patrick practiced Emergency Medicine in La Crosse, Tomah and Viroqua, WI. He served as Medical Director of the ER in Tomah for several years. Patrick had a Complementary Medicine practice in La Crosse and Viroqua offering treatments sought after by his patients, but not readily available through the traditional medical system.
Patrick had a love of study and learning and a photographic memory. He loved books and would recite back what he had read in detail. He had a curious mind and was always interested in what the next great ideas and treatments would be and how they might help where there was no help so far. He also had a deep love for Wisconsin, state and national parks.
Patrick is survived by his wife Lydia (Colescott) Scott. He was a proud father of three beautiful children, and is survived by Sarah Scott (Kevin Myers), Adam Scott (Olivia Pinner) and Emery Scott (Cailtin Weinkes). He is also survived by his loving family including brothers Dennis (Amy), Kevin (Mary), Michael, Terry and sister Maureen Scott as well as many cousins, friends, and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his brothers Timothy and James, his parents Raymond and Ruth Mary, beloved cousins, aunts and uncles.
Patrick was a bright light. He was known for a big laugh, a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. He found happiness later in his life on a small farm in Readstown and was grateful for the friendship of many people in that area.
In lieu of flowers please donate to The Alzheimer's Association, Agrace Hospice or Attic Angels Retirement community. Patrick’s family sends a heartfelt thank you to the amazing Agrace and Attic Angels teams of caregivers, staff and volunteers. A Celebration of Patrick's Life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at the Cress Center 6021 University Avenue Madison at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
