Patrick "Boomer" Roseboom

     Patrick (Boomer) Roseboom of Madison, WI passed away at the age of 90 on March 26, 2024. He was born on September 9th, 1933 to Robert and Florence Roseboom in Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from South High in 1951 and joined the Marine Corps in September 1952 where he was stationed with a jet squadron in Miami, FL. He was also a Golden Gloves boxing champ during that time. 


     Patrick was united in marriage to Susan Reinhardt on June 20th, 1959. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in accounting in June 1964.  For most of his life, he worked as an accountant at General Motors first in Grand Rapids, MI and then in Kalamazoo, MI.  Later in life, he was united in marriage to Sandra Munson in Holland, MI on September 21st, 1994.  He retired from General Motors in 1999 and moved to Oshkosh, WI in 2017. Patrick loved boating in South Haven, MI, tennis, and jogging, and was a lifelong fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines (GO BLUE!). He was very active in youth athletics, helping coach many of his children’s football and baseball teams, and loved being part of the “chain gang” at Portage Central High School football games.


     Patrick was preceded in death by his wife Sandy of Oshkosh, WI.  He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack "Cliff" Roseboom of New Castle, DE, and James “Jim" Roseboom of Sparta, MI, and his sister Roberta “Bert” Debri of Grand Rapids, MI.


     Patrick is survived by his first wife, Susan Roseboom, of Portage, MI, two sons, Patrick (Kathleen) Roseboom of Madison, WI, and Derek Roseboom of Boonville, CA and one daughter, Leah Williams of Plainwell, MI. He is also survived by two stepsons, Michael (Gabrielle) Munson of Oshkosh, WI, and Mark (Misty) Munson of Sheboygan, WI, grandchildren, Rachael, Ryan, and Erin Roseboom and step-grandchildren Thomas and John Munson and Cole and Jack Munson. He is further survived by a niece, Julie (Paul) Lang of Ada, MI, and a nephew, Tim (Ann) Debri of Grand Rapids, MI.   


     The family thanks all the staff of Brookdale Madison West, especially Katie Free, Kelly Anthony, and Christeena Evans, and all the staff of Capitol Lakes Health Center. The family also thanks the expert staff of Agrace Hospice, especially Toni Groenier and Breanna Loether. Finally, we also thank the many nurses and doctors of UW and Meriter Hospitals for the gentle and expert care they provided to Boomer. 


     Funeral services will be held at Cress Funeral Home (6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705) on Friday, April 5th with visitation starting at 11 AM and a service to follow at 12 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Agrace Hospice Care (https://www.agrace.org/donate/).
