Patrick graduated from the special education program at Memorial High School in 1981. Soon after, he moved out of his family home into the community with his friend Pat Murphy, beginning an independent life supported by the progressive and forward-thinking agencies that enriched his life with opportunity and dignity.
A longtime and active member of West Madison Area Special Olympics, Patrick participated in a wide range of sports including swimming, track, softball, weightlifting, bocce ball, and his favorite of all—bowling.
He was a loyal fan of Wisconsin sports teams, with a special passion for the Milwaukee Brewers. Patrick attended games in Milwaukee several times a year and even made a couple of trips to spring training in Arizona. He loved music and dancing, was known for his radiant smile, and was always ready to clown around and share a laugh with his many dear friends.
Patrick is survived by his sisters, Sue Peterson of Mineral Point and Candy Knick (Ruben Simsiman) of Sauk City; and brothers, Bill (Jana) Knick of Milton and Sean Knick (Nici Hemmy) of Madison. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kristine Reed, Missy Osborne, Josh Kiesling, Katy Pavlik, Ryan Knick, and Dan Knick.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Knick of Menomonee Falls, and his parents.
