Patricia B. Stanek

Patricia B. Stanek, age 77, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025 at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 17, 1947 to Floyd and Mabel Bloor (Sullivan) of Kendall, WI, growing into adulthood in the rural Mt. Tabor area. Patricia graduated from Hillsboro High School, where she met her future sweetheart husband, Bernard. Patricia graduated from Nursing School at MATC Madison. She was united in marriage to Bernard on September 7, 1968, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Tabor. They had lived in the Madison, WI area since 1978, before residing in Waunakee. Over the years, Patricia was a homemaker, nurse, medical coder, and most importantly loving mother and wife. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee and enjoyed supporting Catholic based organizations and seminarian groups. Some of her interests included reading, news programs, PBS shows, baking and cooking. Patricia was proud of her Irish heritage and celebrated being born on St. Patrick’s Day. She also enjoyed the family campouts, any and all family gatherings, the Packers, but mainly being a faith-based, supportive and goofy grandmother. Her nurturing spirit extended into her role as grandmother, creating many cherished memories. 

As a mother and grandmother, Patty found profound joy in raising her children, instilling values of love, resilience, kindness and integrity extending into her grandsons.

With her lifelong health challenges, she had unwavering positivity and spirituality.

Patricia leaves behind her loving children, Sara (David) Fahey of Fitchburg, Ryan (Kim) Stanek of Dane, along with three precious grandsons, Chase Stanek, Kylar Stanek, and Nicholas Fahey; brothers and sisters, Maxine Ratajczyk, Bill (Nancy) Bloor, Sherry Clark, Steve (Wanda) Bloor, and Myra (Chris) Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ramona (Calvin) VanKirk, (Randy and Michelle Hynek), Mike (Nancy) Stanek, (Charlie Hickenbottom), Tony (LaDonna) Stanek, and Kris (John) Pastor; five godchildren, Kevin Van Kirk, Douglas Jensen, Michael Clark, Sarah Barnes, and Jacob Stanek; along with many nieces and nephews. 

Patty was also proceeded in death by Bernard, her loving husband of 36 years; her parents, Floyd and Mabel Bloor; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Dorothy Stanek; brothers, Tom Bloor, Ron Bloor, Michael Bloor; and sister, Valetta Jensen; brothers-in-law, Don Jensen, Don Ratajczyk and Larry Clark; sisters-in-law, Pat Bloor, Odette Bloor, Janet Stanek, and Kathy Hynek.

Pallbearers: Sara, David and Nicholas Fahey, Ryan, Kim, Chase and Kylar Stanek. 

A Christian mass will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee, WI 53597. 

Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Mt. Tabor, E16146 CTY. Hwy P on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 am. 

Friends may call on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Co. Rd. Q, Waunakee, WI 53597. Friends may also call on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service at St. John’s Catholic Church.
