Palmer Jacobson

March 5, 1925 — May 19, 2017

Stoughton- Palmer E. Jacobson, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Stoughton on March 5, 1925, the son of Egbert and Palma Jacobson. Palmer graduated from Stoughton High School in 1944. On July 21, 1946 he married Ellen Margaret Nygaard, together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Palmer owned and operated East Side Service Station for many years. He served on the City Council, Planning Commission, and Police and Fire Commission. Palmer was a former member of the Stoughton Lions Club. He was a longtime member of the Stoughton Country Club. Palmer was an active member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. He and his wife served as Syttende Mai King and Queen in 1983. Palmer enjoyed spending time with his family, playing euchre, and yodeling. With his wife Ellen, they enjoyed dancing and traveling, especially to Norway, Hawaii and Alaska. Palmer is survived by two daughters, Renee Jacobson and Sharon Palumbo, both of Stoughton; four grandchildren, Alexa and Jake Deutsch, Jourdan (Gaelan) Fraboni and Michaela Palumbo; many relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen; and five siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
