MADISON - Owen Robert Bradley, 73, of Madison, Wis. died peacefully in the loving company of his family on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare after a long battle with cancer. He was born in 1943 in Circleville, Ohio, the son of Mary (Coughlin) and Gervase Dynes Bradley. He married Lorraine Zmania in 1966. Family came first for Owen and he was a loyal friend. Everyone who knew him benefitted from his considerable humor and wit. Owen retired from a dedicated career as an employee relations specialist at the University of Wisconsin System. He was an avid listener and mediator, always striving to discern fair and equal treatment to benefit the individuals he worked with. All his life Owen was an avid sports fan and player. He played baseball and basketball at Tigerton high school, softball in Milwaukee tavern leagues and golfed throughout his life, for several years in the Badger Men's League. He saw the Packers beat the Cowboys at Lambeau Field's frigid Ice Bowl in 1967. He keenly followed many teams including his favored Packers, Badgers football and basketball, and Milwaukee Brewers baseball. Owen is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; his five children, Jennifer (Joe Vent), Leah, Christopher (Jamie Abing), Garett (Peggy Henning) and Megan; five grandchildren, Dominic, Stuart, Madie, Addisen and Grace; his sister Ruth (Walsdorf); brother Neil (Cris Correia); several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Owen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Hugh and Gene, sisters Ann (Foster) and Rita, brother-in-law Jim Walsdorf, and sister-in-law Allyn (Lewis, Emerson) and nephew Robert Walsdorf. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday, September 16, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and service immediately following. Owen will later be buried in St. Anna, Wis., in a private family ceremony. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care they gave Owen in his final days. Memorials may be made to the Agrace Foundation or the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.
