Orville C. Long

Orville C. Long, age 60, died unexpectedly Friday, October 22, 2010 in his home.  He was born January 29, 1950, in Madison, the son of Newton and Gracia (Phillips) Long.  He was employed by Advanced Building Corp.    He loved the outdoors.  He built his own cabin , including a lot of intricate wood work on the inside, on a beautiful piece of land in Adams County. There he chopped and laid up a lot of wood for himself and others.  He loved restoring old tractors, especially Olivers.  He was always there to help anyone who needed it and was a true friend.      Survivors include his father Newton Long of Marshall; a brother Philip Long of Columbus, a sister Mary Ellen Long of Marshall, a niece Kristie Long of DeForest and a nephew Jesse Long of Columbus.   He was preceded in death by his mother.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 27 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 6:00 pm until time of service.  Monsignor Douglas Duschack will officiate.
