Ok Park, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was born on April 2, 1925, in South Korea. Ok (pronounced Oak) was married for many years to Yong Lee, after he passed away in 1995, she moved to Madison, WI without knowing a single word of English. She came to the US to help raise her grandsons, Avi and Skylar. Avi, Skylar and Ok had lots of wonderful adventures together, climbing trees, biking, walking in nature, and playing tennis. While she did not speak English and her neighbors did not speak Korean, somehow, they all were able to communicate with each other. Ok loved gardening and cooking for friends and family. Ok became forgetful and in 2015 was diagnosed with Dementia, her family wanted nothing more than to care for her at home, but it became unsafe for Ok due to her wandering out of the apartment while her family was sleeping.
Ok is survived by her son, Changho (Joanne) Lee; daughter, Changhee Lee (Jaegyo Kim); grandsons Avi, Minhoi, and Byunghoi and other friends and family in Korea and the US. Ok is preceded in death by her husband and grandson, Skylar.
There will be a graveside service for Ok on Wednesday, September 28 at 12 pm at FOREST HILL CEMETERY, 1 Speedway Rd, please meet at the gate and we will go to the grave together.
Ok’s family would like to thank Autumn Winds and Agrace Hospice for all their assistance, care and compassion in caring for Ok in her final chapter with us.
