Obert H. Hanson

Stoughton- Obert H. Hanson, age 87, passed away at Nazareth House in Stoughton on Friday, January 28, 2011.  He was born in Deerfield on March 3, 1923, the eldest son of Olaf and Marie (Severson) Hanson.  Obert served four years in the Army during WWII.  On November 13, 1948 he was united in marriage to Kathleen McCarthy, the first couple to be married at First Lutheran Church.  Obert worked for over 35 years at Uniroyal.  Following his retirement he volunteered many hours at the Stoughton Senior Center.  Obert is survived by five children, Henry, Dean, Colleen (Tim) Sauer, Jeanette (Bill) Fried and Patrick Hanson; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and siblings, Dorothy Zehr and James (Ginny) Hanson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant daughter, Lois; daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Hanson; and brother, Palmer Hanson.  Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton.  Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.  Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc or to the Stoughton Senior Center.  A special thank you to HospiceCare for the wonderful care of both Obert and Kathleen.
