MADISON - Norman I. Overland, age 91, died Saturday November 22, 2014 at Agrace Hospice Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Mt. Horeb on November 15, 1923 to Iver and Anna (Berliot) Overland.
Norman served in the 4th Marine Division during World War II earing two purple hearts.
In 1946 he married Hattie Scheidegger and lived in the Pine Bluff and later Fitchburg area.
He retired from Oscar Meyers with 33 years of service and liked to stay active, enjoying good health almost to the end.
He is survived by his sons; Dennis, Harlan (Polly), and Roger, grandson; Tim Overland, granddaughters; Lisa (Mark) Teggatz and Heidi (Eliott) Sarnow, great grandson; Jacob Overland, great grandchildren; Cienna and Chase Sarnow, and also Anya and Lyla Teggatz.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hattie, son Brian, great grandson Liam Teggatz, two brothers; Amos and Olen, two sisters; Edith Jeremaison and Margaret Mickelson, three nephews; Ever Jeremaison, Edward Raisbeck, and Maynard Mickelson, niece Karen Handel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday November 29, 2014 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
