Norma I. Atwood, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, September 29, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Daleyville, Wisconsin, where she had lived for the past two years.

Born January 9, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Hilda Rossmanith.

Norma raised six children while living in Howard Lake and Rochester, Minnesota; Wolsey, South Dakota; and Oconomowoc and Hollandale, Wisconsin. In each community, she attended a Lutheran church, actively participated in congregational life, and enjoyed singing in the choir.

An avid Brewers and Packers fan, Norma also enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her many grandchildren. She devoted many volunteer hours to Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin, Meals on Wheels, and the March of Dimes, and she drove people to medical appointments. She also worked for many years at Stauffer’s Cheese Factory in Blue Mound, Wisconsin.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Atwood; and her sister, Roberta Loucks. She also leaves behind friends at Friendship Manor in Janesville, where she lived for several years.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hills, Diana Simmons, Alan Atwood, Barbara Cooper, Elissa Walker, and Richard Atwood; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served at the same location after the service.
