October 19, 1938 — August 12, 2013

Madison - Nona Rosemary Cox passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

She was born on October 19, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan as the sixth and youngest child of Nona Leon Fergusson and Arthur King.

Survivors include her three children, Heidi Schiesser Prior (David); Christopher Cox (Trisha) and Carrie Cox. She is also survived by her six precious grandchildren Kendra, Marcus, Jenna, Curtis, Michael and Katelyn.

Rosemary or Rosie, as she was known by friends and family, was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Virgina Beals, Betty VanWormer, Donald King, Richard King and Barbara Okalski.

Rosemary possessed an associate degree in social work from Gateway Technical Institute and retired from Covance as a Quality Control Specialist in 2007. She was a lay minister for the First Unitarian Society and worked with Meriter Hospital which she greatly enjoyed. She was a Spiritualist who comforted many, many people with her solace and firm belief of life in the hereafter. Rosemary was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with her until her dying moment.

Rosemary enjoyed many happy times with her UU and Schilaufer friends and her once-a-week swimming buddies. In her earlier years, she traveled Europe with her mother and made ambitious trips to the Great Wall in China and the Arctic Circle in Alaska with her steadfast friend, Frank.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 20th between 5 and 8PM at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, Wisconsin.

A Celebration of Rosemary's Life Memorial Service will take place Wednesday, August 21st at 4:30PM at the First Unitarian Society located in the Landmark Auditorium, 900 University Bay Drive, Madison, Wisconsin.
