Nils Wahlstrom

Nils (Olaf) Wahlstrom, 84, of Waunakee, passed away on Nov. 2, 2016 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI.

A Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Nov. 7, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee, 5763 County Road Q. Waunakee, WI

Nils was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 6, 1932. He graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Nils received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Valparaiso University in 1958 and an MBA from Indiana University in 1959. He met Kathryn while attending Valparaiso University. They were married in 1957 with the wedding held at the bride's hometown of Two Rivers, Wi.

Nils and Kathryn settled and raised four children in a wonderful neighborhood in Wisconsin Rapids for 25 years. They both retired and moved to sunny warm Florida from 1992 to 2006 before returning to Wisconsin and building a home in Waunakee. Nils loved fishing for bass, muskie, walleye, pompano, mackerel (with an occasional Florida gator accidently thrown in), music of all sorts, playing his piano or accordion, cross-country and downhill skiing, walking the beach and serving at church.

His professional life included: Accounting intern-training at Ford Motor Co., Assistant Plant Controller, American Can Co., Neenah, WI, Plant Controller, Fabri Tech Eau Claire, WI, Financial Analyst, Consolidated Papers, Cost Accounting Manager-Consolidated Papers, Controller, Hotel Mead Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Nils is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathryn; four children, Todd (Amanda) Wahlstrom, Ann Marie Lillie, Barbara (Jeff) Ticknor, and Kenneth (Cheryl) Wahlstrom; and thirteen grandchildren; Cole, Nathan, Steven, Amy, Anjali, Joel, Keara, Isaiah, Lia, Alena, Erin, Sydney, and Nicholas; and sister, Margaret (Roy) Retting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice Care, First Presbyterian Church in Waunakee, or Waunakee Food Pantry.
