MILLER, NELL

SUN PRAIRE/WAUNAKEE-Nell Miller, age 87, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2018, at the Sienna Crest Assisted Living Facility in Waunakee. She was born in LaFarge on Apr. 6, 1930, the daughter of Carson and Ida Bickel. Nell graduated from LaFarge High School in 1948 and started her working career at the Triangle Restaurant in Waunakee. In 1967, she was employed at The Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie where she spent the rest of her career as a shipping supervisor/clerk. While at The Cheeseman, Nell made many, many enduring friendships that lasted to this day. While her days were getting shorter, Mom emphasized to tell her remaining friends "You've been great friends.", "Remember the good times.", "I send my love and prayers.", and "My memory isn't what it used to be and I've shed a lot of tears over it." Mom signed her Christmas cards this year with the message, "Merry Christmas, God bless, Love my friends, Take care."

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Hagen; and her grandson, Richard Thielker. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne-Joyce (James) Swant of Mayfield, KY and Ellen (Rob) Hooper of Tempe, AZ; and her son, Bob of Waunakee. She is further survived by her nephew, Allen (Lynne) Hagen and niece, Irene Hagen of Washington state; her grandson, Matthew Hooper; her granddaughters, Susan Thielker and Kathleen Kaufman; and great-grandchildren, Michael Kaufman, Lauren Kaufman, Courtney Kaufman, and Maranda Kaufman.

Nell was an active member of the Sun Prairie Historical Museum. She enjoyed the Kickapoo Valley, flowers, politics, and being a poll worker at election time. She was a life-long Democrat and encouraged people to vote.

The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness, love, and attention given our mom by the staff of Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Waunakee and Agrace HospiceCare. You treated our mom like family and you will always remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terr., Sun Prairie, at 2:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm until the time of service.
