Neil Halverson

Neil Halverson, age 79, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born Sept. 7, 1946 in Madison to Orville and Mildred (Barsness) Halverson.

Neil grew up in Wiota, WI attending a one room grade school. He graduated from South Wayne High School in 1964. That fall he was accepted into the Milwaukee Accredited School of Cosmetology. Neil worked at several hair salons in Madison. He also owned his own salon, Hair & Company, on Park St. in Madison for 37 years. Neil loved people, Ladies, Gents, babies and kids, especially his nieces and nephews. He obviously loved their hair too.

Neil’s second career was working for Hospice Care as a CNA, where he met his sister from another mother, Jeri Dobson, and lifelong friend. His charm, compassion, humor, wit, and genuine love for people is what he gave to the ones he helped. He loved to travel, cook, decorate, and spend quality time with family and friends.

Neil is survived by Carol Erickson, Ross (Theresa) Halverson, Julie (Randy) Parker, and Perry (Becky) Halverson, and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death are his parents, Orv and Millie Halverson, brother in law Stan Erickson, and Robert Kuhn.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank Amber of Bristol Hospice for her kindness and care. A special Thank You to Jeri Dobson-Bartnick and her husband Dave for their compassionate care and love for Neil. You two are and have been the angels among us on earth. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Neil’s name to the hospice of your choice.
