Fosshage, Neal
Stoughton- Neal Thomas Fosshage, age 79, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on Wednesday, March 14, 2012with family by his side. He was born on February 6, 1933, a son of John and Irene (Lingard) Fosshage. He graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1951 and the UW Farm Short Course the following year. Neal served his country in the Army from 1953 to 1955 as a Military Police and Armed Forces Policeman, stationed in Ft. Lewis, Washington, and working with the Tacoma and Seattle Police Departments. After his honorable discharge in 1955, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, receiving a BS in journalism in 1959. He joined WCLO Radio in Janesville as News Director the following year. Neal then joined Ray-O-Vac in Madison as Product Publicity Manager, and his programs received several national awards at Ray-O-Vac. In 1965, Neal joined the Gehl Company, a leading farm equipment manufacturer in West Bend. At Gehl, he helped form the Badger Chapter of NAMA (National Agri-Marketing Association.) His dealer oriented advertising and marketing programs at Gehl also won several national awards. After Gehl, he joined the custom publishing company, Johnson Hill Press in Fort Atkinson. There he served as account manager for Ralston Purina, De Laval and other companies and organizations. In 1980, he joined the custom publishing division of Webb Company, a leading farm magazine publisher in St. Paul, MN, where he led the Mobil, Bobcat, American Cyanamid and Valmont Accounts. When Webb Publishing was sold to a foreign publisher, he and his editorial partner, George Ashfield formed Fieldhagen Publishing Company in St. Paul and continued to serve the American Cyanamid and Valmont accounts.
Neal is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Mark) Fjestad of Stillwater, MN; grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Fjestad; his former wife, Audrey (Felland Stark) Fosshage of Stoughton; 3 step-children, James (Christie) Stark, William Stark and Suzanne (Mark) Enderle; step grandchildren, Ben and Martha Stark, David Stark, Kellie Larson, and Andrew Enderle; his twin sister, Norma (Elmer) Baker of Mt. Horeb; sisters, Carol (Werner) Eugster of Kansas City and Vergene Glaser of Edmonton, Alberta; and a brother, Lyle (Betty) Fosshage of Sauk City.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B, Stoughton, with the Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Burial and Military rites will take place at a later date. The family will greet friends at church on Saturday the 24th from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. A supper reception at church will immediately follow services. Memorials may be made to Skaalen Home. In recognition of Neal's love for the UW, show your love by wearing a splash of red to the service.
