Nathan J. Enge, age 86, of Waunakee passed away on February 1, 2013 at Middleton Village. He was born on January 5, 1927 to Eugene and Elsie (Accola) Enge of Witwen, WI. Nathan was a WWII veteran where he served in Italy and was a member of the Waunakee American Legion Post #360. Recently he participated in the Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He married Jean E. (Heinz) on December 9, 1954. He was a devoted Badger fan and traveled to many of their bowl games where he enjoyed yodeling for the crowd. He was a member of the Mendota Grid Iron Club and he ushered home games for over forty years. Nathan was a life long carpenter and was the building inspector for the Town of Westport for 45 years, retiring in 2012. He rode his motorcycle whenever possible, including the delivery of Meals on Wheels in and around Waunakee. He was very proud of his Swiss heritage and traveled multiple times with his lovely wife, Jean, to the homeland.
Nathan is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 58 years; 4 sons, Randal (Jennifer), Terry (Joan), David (Kathy), and John (Amy); proud grandfather to Sarah (Craig), Jaden, Easton, Shayla, Hailey, Payton, Iden, Riley, Brady, and Reese; many
nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Nathan was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Sydney, Ralph and Lee; and sisters
Nelda and Jessie.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Waunakee American Legion Hall 417 E Main St. in Waunakee from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday Feb 4, 2013. A funeral service will be held on Tues. Feb 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church 209 South St Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Tues. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in St John's Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by Post 360 Honors Unit.
