Naomi Irene Whiteside, aged 95, passed away peacefully and entered eternal rest at her home on November 20, 2012, with daughters by her side. She was born in Hardtner, Kansas, on January 27, 1917, the youngest of seven children born to Edward and Sarah Fuller Watt, homesteaders of the Kansas frontier. She grew up in Ellsinore, Missouri, then attended business school and moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she met Clyde C. Whiteside. They were married on Oct. 18, 1941, at Fulton, Missouri. As an Army wife, Naomi lived in the Panama Canal Zone, Germany, and in six states, including Alaska, before settling down with three daughters on the Westport farm. She worked for the State of Wisconsin for many years while farming on the side. Following retirement in 1972, she pursued her many interests in the great outdoors, farming, animals, and real estate.
Naomi is survived by daughters Katherine (Donald) Houk of Euless, TX and her sons David (Rebecca) Forrest of Houston, TX, and Timothy (Jennifer) Forrest of Carmel, IN; Peg Whiteside (Diana Morgan) of Waunakee; and Judith (Edwin) Borke of Deerfield, WI and their children Rebecca (Thad) Rutter of Plainfield, IL, Brian (Melissa) Borke of Appleton, WI, and Paul Borke of Dayton, OH. She is also survived by nine great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son, and her sisters and brother.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 5763 County Road Q, Waunakee, on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee, Agrace Hospice of Madison, or a charity of one's choice.
