Reuschlein, Nancy Louise
Madison: Nancy Louise Reuschlein, a courageous survivor who perhaps cherished life's gifts more than most, died March 23, 2015, in Madison after an almost lifelong illness. She was 59.
A humble and loving soul, Nancy lauded her family and held them dear. Her respect and love for her parents was unremitting, and she fully appreciated their many sacrifices for her. She spoke often of her siblings' talents and their kindnesses toward her. Her pastime was reminiscing about family events and trips, childhood pranks and special moments from childhood. She took pride in her nieces and nephews, and treasured the antics of their children.
She enjoyed animals, especially cats, and those she owned were lavished with every comfort. She loved to take rides, sing to the oldies and drink coffee, black with a little milk and Sweet and Low. In her teenage years, her athletic ability was unparalleled among her sisters, and water skiing, snow skiing, and horsemanship were her favorites. She was talented in artwork of all kinds and loved bright colors and design.
Ms. Reuschlein was born September 10, 1955, in Madison, the daughter of Clifford and Elizabeth (Beth) Starr Reuschlein. She lived in Madison most of her life. She was preceded by her father. She is survived by her mother, her sisters - Cathy (Bill) Taylor, Columbus, Ohio; Carole (Mike) Ecker, Black Earth; Connie (Dan Gaytan), El Paso, Tex. - and two brothers: C. Randy (Mary Jo), Stoughton; and Tom, Colorado Springs, Col. She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews.
In becoming an organ donor, Ms. Reuschlein made a lasting gesture of her gratitude for the care given her in her lifetime.
The family thanks the many dedicated care specialists who served her during her illness, most particularly Jan Metcalfe and Dr. Laura Zakowski, who were remarkable blessings to her. The family also thanks Stoughton Area EMS.
Monsignor Gerard Healy will preside over a memorial service on Monday, March 30, at 4 p.m. at Cress Funeral Services, 6021 University Ave. in Madison. A celebration of her life will follow in the Cress Terrace Room (for this reason, NO FORMAL VISITATION WILL OCCUR BEFORE THE SERVICE). Burial is at Forest Hill Cemetery.
