Nancy Smith

Lodi/Waunakee- Nancy M. Smith, age 68, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2016, with family by her side. As we weep, the heavens rejoice. Nancy was born on December 1, 1948 to the late Robert and Bertha (Ripp) Scheuerell. She attended Waunakee schools where she met and later married her grade school sweetheart, Bob Smith. Together they raised two children and shared in the extensive joys of three grandchildren. In June, they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Nancy was a strong advocate for fairness and equality, very active with her local union and eager to lend a hand or a heart where needed. Retirement provided Nancy the opportunity to indulge in her passion for gardening, which enhanced the beauty of their lake home. Her compassion, caring nature, sense of humor, and beautiful smile will live on in our memories.

Nancy treasured her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Bob; Daughter, Tabitha (Dan); Son, Bryan; grandchildren, Claire, Connor, and Katie; sisters Betty (Pete) Miller, Mary Lange (Dick), and brothers, Robert (Sue) Scheuerell, Tom Scheuerell, Joe Scheuerell (Cheryl), and brother-in-law, Bill Haen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Haen; sister-in-law, Beverly Scheuerell; and brother-in-law, Hermie Lange.

Family and friends may visit at Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Additional visitation will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St, Waunakee, on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. The Memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. with Msgr. James Gunn presiding.
