NANCY MENG BRUCE
7/29/32 - 3/2/16

Born in Milwaukee to Gene and Bobbe Meng, Nancy enjoyed a classic Midwest upbringing with brother Dick.

As a sophomore Home Ec. Major at University of Wisconsin in Madison, Nancy met and fell in love with junior Finance major and fellow Wisconsinite Bob Bruce. She taught nursery school before marrying Bob and moving to suburban Chicago to raise 5 children Susie, Betsy, Jeff, Peter and Carrie. A fitness enthusiast, Nancy loved tennis, cycling, endless walks and work-outs. She loved books, travel, photography and art. Her eclectic taste in music included pop, ragtime and classical.

A discerning and devoted quilt collector, some of her acquisitions were featured in a nationally published calendar. Nancy cultivated a passion for beauty and was appreciated for her free spirit and sense of humor. Supportive of her Alma Mater, Nancy was benefactress to the U.W. School of Human Ecology and its' medical research programs. She regularly donated blood to the Red Cross and was empathetic and helpful to those in need. She was considered a second Mother to many of her children's friends.

Nancy and Bob marked their 50th Anniversary with a trip to the American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin where the five Bruce siblings surprised their parents and gathered members of the wedding party for the celebration.

Nancy's oceanfront winter home in Juno Beach, Florida was a major source of pleasure. She was endlessly curious about all people she encountered, was keen to support the underdog, had many great friends and was a loving and devoted wife to Bob and mother to her children and Nana to Reilly, Cooper, Hannah, Emily and Katie and Gramma to Jake.
