Mulya Gezhes

MADISON
Mulya (Blitshtain) Gezhes, age 94, passed away on January 17, 2017 at home. Mulya was born on March 1, 1922 in Belilovka, Ukraine. Her family moved from Ukraine to Moscow in 1931. After World War II, from 1945 to 1949 she worked in Berlin as a translator. There she met the love of her life, Max Gezhes. They were married in 1947. They returned to Moscow in 1949, where she raised her two daughters. She worked very hard all her life and gave everything to her family. Her family moved to the United States in 1992, where Mulya embraced the English language and the American culture. Everyone will remember Mulya for her generosity, laughter, love for life, love of music, reading, dancing and her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Max; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and son-in-law, Iosif Guterman.
She is survived by her daughters, Dina Gezhes and Lubov Peysakhovich and her husband, Semeyon Peysakhovich; grandchildren, Misha Guterman and his wife, Meaghan Guterman and Sofya Peysakhovich Borchard and her husband, Tom Borchard; as well as a great-granddaughter, Isabella Borchard.
Burial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road, Madison. Guests may arrive at the gate prior to 11 a.m. for the procession to the gravesite.
