Morrie Streich passed away peacefully at the age of 93 ,on August 5, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Laura (Lewis), three children: Morris ( Patricia), Janelle( Michael) Tilles and Keith (Susan); five grandchildren, Bryan, Tara, Melody, Stephanie and Carolyn; two great grandchildren Rowan and Fiona; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Clara (Lang) Streich of Jefferson, Wisconsin and granddaughter Kathryn.
Morrie was born in Jefferson, Wisconsin and he spent his early years on his parent's farm near Aztalan. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School, attended Milton College and received two degrees from the University of Wisconsin where he was a member of the UW band. Morrie was a US Army veteran, a long-time teacher of music and business at public schools in several Wisconsin communities, a conductor of numerous high school bands and church choirs, an award-winning representative and Regional Manager for Field Enteprises Education Corporation , a member of the Masonic Lodge, a multi-decade conductor of the Zor Shrine concert band and a 30 year member of the Monona Senior Chorus. In later life, he was a tireless volunteer at Meriter Hospital, and received many awards for his years of service, including the Madison Civic Recognition Award.
Morrie enjoyed family, friends and traveling. He was known for his wit humor, and love of music. He had a passion for gardening, fishing and service to others and was a deacon in his church.
