Monte W. Raker

Monte Raker passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1953, in Winner, SD to Donald and Louise (Chladek) Raker. Monte is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Liz Sarafiny, siblings; Kaylene (Richard) Nelson, Don Raker, Mary Gadicke and Randy Raker. Sister in laws, Jane and Margaret (Thom Engles) Sarafiny and brother-in-law Joe (Julie) Milner and stepmother-in-law Ione Sarafiny. In addition to many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. He graduated from Lafollette High school in 1971 and worked as a chief maintenance engineer at the Fiore company for many years. He loved fishing, hunting and camping.  Please feel free to wear Packer or Wisconsin sports colors in Monte’s honor.  A special thank you to Hospice, especially Theresa, RN and Caroline, SW, for their excellent support and care. Thank you to the many friends and family who offered love, meals and support. The Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 10a-12p at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705.
