Monica M. Bunch

Monica M. Bunch, of Waunakee, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the age of 89. She was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on June 12, 1936 to the late Harold and Theresa (Parr) Breitenbach. She was raised near the Alma Center Black River Falls area. Monica eventually relocated to Madison where she met and married John P. Bunch. Together they raised three children, Debi, John and Jeff until John’s passing in March of 1979.

Monica worked as a hostess for many years at Mr. Steak then Manager at The Sports Page on University Avenue in Madison. She later met Richard Voss. Together they owned and operated The Gold Nugget Bar in Waunakee.

Monica will be dearly missed by her children: Debi (Dan) Dresen, John (Sheila), and Jeff (LuAnn) Bunch; grandchildren: Ryan (Kelsey) Dresen, Megan (fiancé Austin Litscher) Dresen, Carmen (Dan) Folk, Brittni (Joel) Sauer, McKenzie (fiancé Cody Christensen) Bunch, Cody Bunch, and Courtney Bunch; great-grandchildren: Freya and Lennyn Folk, Aurora Dresen, and Sophie and Charlotte Sauer; sisters, Sharon (Don, deceased) Johnson of Black River Falls WI, and Mary (Jerry) Stark of Peoria, IL. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, longtime companion, Richard Voss, brother Richard (Janice, also deceased) Breitenbach, and brother-in-law Don Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, followed by a reception at Rex’s Innkeeper.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

The family would like to thank the staff at Home Again Memory Care for the exceptional care and attention given to Monica while she was there.
