Mona Maas

Mona passed away peacefully on May 20 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 12,1939 to Frederick and Matilda Stueber. She grew up in Clyman, WI and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman. She grew up on a farm with her father, mother and older brother Richard.

Mona attended Juneau High School in Juneau, WI where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Maas. They were married on June 20, 1959. Mona died one month before their 66th wedding anniversary. Mona saved all their notes they wrote to each other in high school, a testament to their true love story.

Dick and Mona had three children, Vicki (Mike) Wilde, Lisa Maas, and Cari (Brian) Judd. She was a devoted mother to her three girls having lost her own mother at age 10. Mona had two grandchildren she cherished, Brooklyn and Bailee Judd. One of Mona's favorite things was to get her nails done once a month with her granddaughters.

Mona worked at National Mutual Benefit for 25 years and retired in 2002. She enjoyed her card club group in her retirement years, and her and Dick found great joy in their many years of traveling together, having been to all 50 states twice over and experienced many cruises in the Caribbean and in Europe.

Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Matilda Stueber. She is survived by her loving husband, Dick, her daughters, Vicki, Lisa and Cari, sons-in-laws Mike Wilde and Brian Judd, granddaughters Brooklyn and Bailee, and her brother Richard Stueber.

As I drew my last breath, God was standing next to me with an outstretched hand saying, take My hand and follow Me to the promised land.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Mona will be laid to rest at Juneau City Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Skaalen in Stoughton.
