Miriam Fey

Waunakee - Our beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, colleague, and teacher finally lost her battle to cancer after multiple years of resilience to various forms of the disease.
Miriam Fey, age 60, passed away on Monday, December 19 in the loving arms of family. She was born on August 3, 1956, the daughter of Shirley and Duane Lysne. She graduated from North Crawford High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Miriam married the love of her life, Michael, on May 13, 1989. They were blessed with a son, Mason, born on February 13, 1993. Miriam and Michael were married 27 years. Miriam worked for many years at Wisconsin Physicians Service (WPS) and Madison Area Technical College (MATC) before pivoting to her cherished career as a high school business education teacher. She began teaching at Sun Prairie Area School District (SPHS) in 1997, and earned a Master's Degree in Business Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2003.

Miriam loved teaching, serving as yearbook co-advisor, and working with the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at SPHS. Miriam had a passion for gardening and knitting, but most of all spending time with family and friends at the cabin and camping. She always looked forward to getting back to her classroom to be with "her kids", many who call her "Mama Fey".

Miriam is fondly remembered by family, friends, students, alumni and colleagues and all those she graced with her positive personality. She cared dearly for others and exemplified and inspired us all to strive for excellence.

Miriam is survived by her husband, Michael; son, Mason; sister, Martha (Dan) Cleveland; brother, Aaron (Sally) Lysne; father-in-law Ray (Ann) Fey; Michael's brothers Shawn and Craig (Bobbie) Fey; and nieces and nephews: Erika Cleveland, Andrea (Danny) Stadig, Danielle Cleveland, Ella Lysne, Jake, Levi and Grant Fey; and her canine companions Max and Mattie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 S. Century Ave, Waunakee, on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 from 4pm to 5pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 5pm. Following the service, a reception will take place at church.
