Milven Olson

Milven "Mel" Carl Olson, age 45, passed away unexpectedly due to a heart complication on Friday, April 20, 2012. Mel was born in Platteville on June 11, 1966 the son of Erling and Alice (Roethlisberger) Olson. He was united in marriage to Jane E. Thuesen on August 1, 1998. Mel worked as an electrician and loved camping, fishing, wrestling, wood working, grilling, golfing, working on cars and watching his kids play sports.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Jane and children Carissa (19), Christopher (13), and Brian (6). Also bereaved are siblings Randy (Pam) Olson, Lynn (Ed) Hughes, Rick Olson, Laura (Pete) Kamps, Lesa (Steve) Pitts, Erling "Ole" (Cheryl) Olson, Lanita "Kate" Olson, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family on behalf of Mel's children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Parish at the St. Andrew Church, 301 N. Main St. Verona, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 with the Rev. William F. Vernon presiding. A visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 and on Wednesday, one hour prior to mass. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Verona immediately following mass. Lunch will be served at church following services.
