Nelson, Milo R.
Portage/ formerly of Madison: Milo R. Nelson, age 81, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 in Portage at Divine Savior Healthcare, with his wife by his side. He was born June 11, 1933 in Madison. Milo was a graduate of Central High School where he excelled in both volleyball and basketball. Following high school, Milo was drafted into the US Army, and was stationed in Korea with the 3rd Infintry Division where he achieved the rank of Corporal. Milo was united in marriage to Frances M. Fiore on February 11, 1956. He worked as a plasterer for 15 years, and took great pride in his ornamental plaster artwork in both the State Capitol building, and the Governor's Mansion. Following back surgeries, Milo went to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier. Milo enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and also enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives with his jokes and stories. In the sixties Milo was an avid bowler. For several years he bowled with four of his brothers, all of whom had served overseas in the second world war. He is survived by his wife; Frances, daughters; Pamela Anderson, Nancy (John) Quirk, Jeanne (John) Shearer, Karen (David) DeLoof, his brothers; Donald, Leonard, and Thomas, and sisters; Lorraine, Olga, Leonette, Nancy, and Dagmar. Milo was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia, sister Francis Shultz, and brothers; Arnold, Julian, and Norman. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm on Sunday February 8, 2015 at the CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705, with a funeral service following at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dan Pulsfus presiding.
