Mildred Gehrke

McFarland- Mildred "Millie" Gehrke, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Madison on August 17, 1934, the daughter of Elmer and Hilda Swanson. Millie graduated from East High School in 1953. On July 11, 1953 she married Raymond Gehrke. Millie worked as a Food Preparer for McFarland Schools for 29 years and retired in June of 1996. She has been a member of the VFW Post 7591 on Cottage Grove Road since 1990. Millie enjoyed crocheting hats for many different organizations, completing crossword puzzles and word find books, camping at the Wilderness in Montello with her husband for 36 years, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 � years, Ray; four children, Debbra (Wil) Mack, Sharon (Dennis) McPherson, David (Theresa) and Michael Gehrke; seven grandchildren, Hope (Mike) Kruse, Mathew (Bridgit) Egner, Travis McPherson, Amanda (Nik) Kimball, Troy, Joshua (Tara) and Adam (Mindy) Gehrke; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Paul) Rizzo; step-brother, Raymond Daigle; the entire Roth family; and many extended family members and friends. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Della Swanson; brother, Richard Swanson; and step-brother, Edward Daigle. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum in Monona. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Heartland Hospice and Edgerton Hospital for their care and compassion.
