Mildred Gabrielsen

September 18, 1929 — January 1, 2018

Madison - Mildred H. Gabrielsen, age 88, our beloved mother, passed on from this world on Monday, January 1st, 2018. She was surrounded by many of her loved ones. She was born on September 18, 1929 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Henry and Theresa (Annis) Gabrielsen. Mildred worked for many years for Waukesha County as a social worker. She loved her job working with the elderly. Mildred derived most of the joy in her life through her role as a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her four children, Ruth (Mike) Lochner, Mary (Tim) Erdman, John (Jenny) Phillips, and Tom (Nancy) Phillips; by her grandchildren, Bob (Kaitlin) Lochner, Anne Lochner, Katie Lochner, Emily Erdman, Abby Erdman, Mike (Shanna) Phillips, Nick (Erin) Phillips, Henry Phillips, Ethan Phillips, Helen Phillips and Tommy Phillips; her great-grandchildren Harper and Hunter Phillips; and special friend and caregiver, Kelly Mahoney.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Faye Chambers and Ruth Waterman.

A memorial service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE PRAIRIE RIDGE- TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, WI 53718 on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Chaplain Wayne Shannon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mildred to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness in Dane County, United Way Building, 2059 Atwood Avenue, Floor 4, Madison, Wisconsin 53704-6608.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakwood Village East-Meadows Care Unit for the love and attention she received while there, with special thanks to staff members Emily and Hannah for all they have done for Mildred and our family.
