Mildred "Dolly" J. Bailey

Stoughton - Mildred “Dolly” Bailey (Lloyd) passed away on Saturday, Sept 7th at the age of 88 at Skaalen Rehabilitation and Retirement Services in Stoughton Wisconsin. She was born in 1936 to parents Victor and LaVerna St. John (Quade) of Janesville, WI.At age 9, the family moved to a farm in Neillsville, WI, and in 1954 she graduated from Neillsville High School and moved to Madison, WI for employment. In October 1955, Dolly married her High School Sweetheart, DeWayne G. Lloyd. They moved to Stoughton, WI where they raised their three children.Dolly worked at Nelson Muffler until she joined the United States Army Reserves and was stationed at the 44th General Hospital in Madison, WI.In 1981, she moved to San Antonio, TX where she was stationed with the Headquarters of the 90th Army Reserve Command. In 1990, she married her second husband, Melvin Bailey. Dolly retired as a Senior Medical Specialist Sergeant First Class (SFC) with 21 years of service.In 2012, she moved back to WI to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Dolly enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion as a Legion and Auxiliary member, dancing, playing cards with her friends, visiting with neighbors, playing Bingo, and showing her 1951 Buick Deluxe that received several trophies and awards. Dolly is survived by her 3 three children, Jona Chat (Jerry), Carla Landsverk (Eric) and Robert “Bob” Lloyd (Mary), 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother George St. John, and second husband, Mel.A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday September 12, 2024, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 W. Prospect St. Stoughton with Rev David Brynelson presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Thursday. The burial will be in Lutheran South Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the American Legion in Stoughton following the cemetery service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association and Agrace Hospice Care.
