Madison - Mildred P. Deneen, age 93, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Care Center. Mildred was born on March 6, 1922 on the family farm in rural Black Earth to the late Michael and Mary (nee Cronin) Deneen. She attended a 1 room rural school house, where her oldest sister Catherine was her teacher, and graduated from Black Earth High School in 1939. She worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for 38 years. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers, and Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to travel and shared her travels via slideshows. She also liked to play golf and bowl.
Mildred is survived by nieces and nephews; Mary Lucey, Lois Haglund, Daryl Deneen, Kathleen Cantwell, Timothy Deneen, Monica Reeve, Julia Helmenstine, Jerome Helmenstine, Mary Jo Kahl, Michael Helmenstine, Patrick Helmenstine, Dennis Deneen, Dan Deneen, Neal Deneen, Jackie Fest, a sister-in-law, Rosemary Deneen and many great nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Catherine Lucey and Mary Ann Helmenstine, brothers; Francis, Bernard, PFC Jerome, and Joseph, nieces and nephews; Marlyce Parman, Roberta Haried, Vincent Deneen, Joan Deneen, John Deneen, Pat Ehle, and great niece Holly Ehle.
Friends may join the family for a visitation at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, June 13 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., Msgr. Kenneth Fiedler presiding. Mildred will be laid to rest at St. Barnabas Cemetery in Mazomanie, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Care Center or the charity of your choice.
