Michael Smith

March 22, 1968 — October 29, 2022

Sauk City/Verona

Michael Wesley Arthur Smith, age 54 of Sauk City, and formerly Verona; where he was raised; passed away on October 29th, 2022 at UW hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in North Carolina at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital.  Son of Michael Clifford and Marilyn Carol (Wardle) Smith. He attended Verona Area Schools; where he made life-long friends; graduating in 1987. He enjoyed fishing as a life-long passionate outdoor pursuit by himself; as well as with many fishing pals; especially with his Uncle Frank and Aunt Lynne Smith.  This man was an excellent angler; with countless schools of fish caught over his lifetime.  Mike was a man of full of laughter, and always was the life of many gatherings; with his excellent skills in singing, guitar, and karaoke, and the ability to act out scenes from many movies with impeccable impersonation. To his family he was known as Mikey, to his friends, Smither.  You were in a glad and growing company if you were in either group.  He was able to bring a song to the heart, a dance to the step, and a smile to any face that he met.  He was a hard worker of many jobs throughout his life, for the majority of it painting apartments. Mikey was ardently committed to his extended family and would spend as much time as possible with them; making them laugh.  Mike is survived by his father, Michael Clifford Smith and Carol Smith of Westfield. His younger brothers: Chad Kalish (Kendra) of Westfield, James Smith, (Becky) of Madison, and Mitchell Smith (Sara), of Broomfield Colorado, nephews; Tyler, Kyle, and Justin and nieces: Bethany and Jael Smith, as well as many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins and good friends who will all miss him dearly. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Smith (Wardle).

A memorial gathering will be held at Kalschuers Park in Pine Bluff on December 9th, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
