Michael Perchik

May 24, 2005 — February 2, 2017

Madison - Michael Artem Perchik, age 11, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2017 at the University of Wisconsin American Family Children's Hospital.

He was born on May 24, 2005 in Yaroslavl, Russia. On April 25, 2006, he officially became the son of Bruce Perchik and Barbara Nichols-Perchik and came with them to the USA a few days later. He became a US citizen when his plane touched down on US soil.

Michael was a 6th grader at Spring Harbor Middle School. He had a smile that could light up a room and took great enjoyment in entertaining his family and friends. Michael was a talented gymnast and could cartwheel as easily as he could walk. He also enjoyed diving, music and baking, particularly if he could sample along the way. He had a passion for all animals including the family dog, Bo.

Michael is survived by his parents, Bruce and Barbara Nichols-Perchik ; his brother, Andrew Perchik; his aunts and uncles, Mary (Wayne) Nelson of Dodgeville and Jim (Judy) Perchik of Cambridge, MA; his cousins, Aaron (Crystal) Nelson of Sauk City, Sonya (Clint) Rickey of Dodgeville, Holly (Tony) DeMuth of Dodgeville, and Jenny (Tony) Bevacqua of Portland, OR; other relatives and many friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mark and Margaret Nichols and Garry and Jeanne Perchik.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6101 University Ave, Madison, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Michael's Life will take place at 11 a.m. Michael will be laid to rest at Hermitage Cemetery in Mount Hope, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to American Family Children's Hospital or Dane County Humane Society.

We would like to thank the amazing medical staff at the American Family Children's Hospital who took care of Michael during his brief stay. We are also thankful that he was able to provide the gift of life to others through organ donation.
