Michael Ilwee

Waunakee: Michael W. Mc Ilwee, age 66, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was born in Madison on February 25, 1947, the son of William and Darlene Mc Ilwee. Mike graduated from Waunakee High School in the Class of 1965. Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967, stationed primarily in the Mediterranean Sea. He graduated from Madison Area Technical College with a degree in Marketing. Mike was an Independent Insurance Agency Owner of Mc Ilwee Halverson Insurance Agency until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 360 since 1967, and a member of the Elks Lodge since 2003 in Madison and Hendersonville, N.C. #1616.
Mike enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, and cars. He was an avid painter, artist, and musician, recently having his song "Wooden Ships" published and recorded.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Betty Behn Ziegler ; his sons, Brad (Lisa) and Ryan (Gina); his step-son, Christopher Ziegler (special friend Kerry Pedersen); his mother- in- law Lucille Harris, his first wife and good friend, Elaine Stormer (Adler); his four grandchildren, Morgan, Kamryn, Connor, and Griffin; his sister, Molly (Jeff) Murphy; his brothers-in-law, Allen Behn, Bob (Cathy) Behn and John Neis; sister-in-law, Mary (Harry) Quinsler; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is further survived by his two loving companions, Divot and Ruff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee. Visitation will be held at 10am until the time of Mass and Thursday, June 20 from 4 to 7pm at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Hwy Q., Waunakee.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sharon Weber, Dr. Sam Lubner, and all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at the UW Hospitals and Clinics, UW Carbone Cancer Center for their kindnesses and for "fighting the good fight."
