Mervin Bridge

Mervin "Merv" R. Bridge, age 86, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 19, 1927 to Ross and Lillian (Hess) Bridge. Merv was united in marriage to Betty Hughes on December 9, 1950 at Bethel Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Merv was a co-owner of Badger Tile, working with his dad and brother. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers and being with his grandkids. It was a privilege for Merv to watch his grandchildren grow up and be involved with their sporting events, concerts, dances, and recitals. He volunteered for the Food Pantry at Bethel and delivering Meals on Wheels.

Merv is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Douglas (Helen) Bridge, Diane (Bill) Dawson, and Debbie; grandchildren, Aleasha, Sarah, Jason, Melissa, Laura, Debra, Jim, Katherine; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Bridge; a cousin, Mary Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Food Pantry or the Bethel Building Fund, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin 53703. The family would like to thank all of those who have helped Merv this past year.
