MADISON - Merlyn "Mike" D. Gray, age 82, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was born on January 13, 1931 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Mike graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Mike served in the Army during the Korean War at the Chemical Center in Aberdeene Proving Ground in Maryland. He later taught mathematics at New Glarus and Platteville High School as well as teaching at UW-Platteville.
Mike is survived by his wife Julie; his children, Michael (Joan) Gray of Two Rivers, Carla (Tom) Rawson of Richland Center, David (Lori) Gray of DeForest, Denice (Pete) Koss of Green Bay; His first wife and children's mother, Doloris Gray of Platteville; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister, Janet Schmaling of Delavan and other extended family.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law and grandson.
A funeral service will be held at BETHANY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3910 Mineral Point Rd, Madison, on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Mike's name be made to Bethany United Methodist Church or the UW-Platteville Foundation.
