Melvin Gabriel

MADISON - Melvin R. Gabriel, age 83, passed away on Friday June 24, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born Dec. 4, 1932 in Wells, MN, the son of the late Edwin and Irene (Krause) Gabriel. He married Esther Bauer on June 19, 1954 in Bloomer. Melvin is a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He worked for many years in the Madison area as a watchmaker.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 62 years Esther, his 3 sons, Michael (Connie) Gabriel, Alan (Vivian) Gabriel, and Jeff Gabriel; 7 grandchildren, Nathan, Adam (Kristin), Stephanie, Amy, Jennifer (Jason) Brantmeier, Matthew, and Justin; 2 great granddaughters, Elise Gabriel and Bailey Brantmeier; he is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Willard Gabriel.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tue June 28, 2016 at Cress Center, 6021 University Ave. Madison with Rev. Lori Powell presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the service on Tue. at the funeral home.
