Meinrad Diederich

Madison/Waunakee - Meinrad E Diederich, age 98, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Waunakee Manor.

He was born on June 20, 1915 to Julius and Anna Diederich. His first wife, Marie Faust passed away on April 12, 1982. He remarried Jeanette (Endres) Bube on Aug 10, 1984. Jeanette passed away January 27, 2010.

Meinrad graduated from Waunakee High School in 1933 and attended college in Madison. He taught school for 2 years and then joined Oscar Mayer as an accountant, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Catholic Knights, the Knights of Columbus, the East Side Business Men's Club and the Elks. He enjoyed volunteering at various churches, organizations and the Veterans Hospital. He loved to visit relatives in Minnesota and traveled for many years. He especially enjoyed playing cards and visits with close neighbors, friends and family.

Meinrad is survived by many nieces and nephews from the Diederich, Faust and Endres families. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Werner and Bernard Diederich and sisters Philomene (Francis) Dunn and Betty (Donald) Heim. Two additional brothers Albert and Joseph died as young children.

Meinrad was a devoted servant of God, living life in a kind and gentle manner. He was a devoted husband and loved by those who knew him. He understood the value of simple pleasures, good friends, and acts of kindness. He will be remembered for his pleasant personality and quick wit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St Peter's Catholic Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave, Madison with Msgr. O. Charles Schluter presiding. Visitation will be immediately preceding the service from 10 a.m. until time of service.

A special Thank You is extended to the Waunakee Manor for the care and concern given to Meinrad during his last 5 years. He made the most of what life sent his way and many of the staff can attest to his sense of humor and thankfulness.
