Megan E. Ellie

September 18, 1995 — May 1, 2024

Windsor

Megan Ellie passed away on May 1 at the young age of 28.  She was born on September 18, 1995 to proud parents Laurie (Disrud) and Rick Ellie.  Megan graduated from Waunakee High School in 2014 with aspirations to create change in the world.  She graduated from UW – Whitewater and received her Masters Degree in Social Work.   Megan was never one to take the easy road, but remained focused on her passion of helping the ones who needed her the most.  She accepted a role with Dane County as a Child Protective Services Social Worker. The impact she made in the children’s lives she helped, is the essence of who Megan was as a person.

Megan was the proud little sister to Alyssa and Ryan.  Megan was the most supportive little sister and biggest cheerleader at several swim meets, soccer games, and various other sibling events.  Megan was most proud of her role as an aunt to Addison and Aubrey.  She made such a strong bond and impact on these little girls lives and will be forever be their “Aunt Megan”.

Megan loved all things in life.  She was an avid soccer player throughout her childhood and high school.  Soccer showcased her hard work, determination, and teamwork mentality she carried throughout her life.  To know Megan, was to know love.  She had such a zest for life and could always been seen in some super trendy outfit, great jewelry, perfect nails, and a huge smile. She had the most contagious laugh and lit up the room instantly.

Megan is survived by her parents Laurie and Rick; siblings Alyssa (Andrew) Richel and Ryan (Cassie Johnson); her nieces Addison and Aubrey Richel and Lyla Wong; her paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.   She is further survived by her fiancée Jacob and their beloved Corgi, Winnie.  She was preceded in death by her grandfather Gerald Disrud, uncle Thomas Disrud, grandmother Joyce Ellie, and cousin Carly Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
