Matthew Richard Knishka died on December 13, 2024. Matt was born on September 28, 1997, in Dayton, Ohio to Scott and Jennifer Knishka. He grew up in Appleton and Waunakee, Wisconsin, graduating in 2016 from Waunakee High School where he was a member of the football and track teams. Matt went on to attend and graduate from UW Milwaukee in 2020 with a degree in Informational Science and Technology. After graduation, he worked in the IT department at Aurora Health before moving to Monico, WI and working for the Oneida County IT Department. Matt was a quiet man who cared deeply about the people around him. Matt loved animals, being Up North, and the hiking he did as a Boy Scout, particularly at Philmont and the Porcupine Mountains. We will forever miss him, his dry, but funny, sense of humor, the potential that is gone with him, and the dreams we had for him. We are overwhelmingly thankful for the years that we had with him and that part of him will live on in others because of his willingness to be an Organ Donor.
Matt was predeceased by his Grandparents, Thomas and Elsie Knishka, and his Grandpa, Richard Lamm. He is survived by his loving family including his parents, siblings, Ryan, Caili, and Tom Knishka, Grandma Rebecca Lamm, and his girlfriend of many years, Hannah Ames.
A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 South Street, in Waunakee on Monday, December 23,2024 at 11:00a.m. Visitation will be from at the church on Monday from 9:30 until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
To all Children, Teenagers, and Adults,
If someone recommends that you go to the doctor or that counseling can help, please go. Find a therapist that you connect with. Yes, we know that you think you can manage it yourself, but sometimes that doesn’t work out the way you plan. You matter and deserve the best that life has to offer.
