In Loving Memory

Mary Porter Whitters, age 97, formerly of Platte City, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Kindred Hearts Assisted Living in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
Mary was born August 4, 1916 in Platte County, Missouri where she resided until moving to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin in September 1999 to be near her daughter Ann. She married her best friend, Allen James Whitters, on April 19, 1947. Mary graduated from Platte City High School, attended Park College and State Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri. She taught school and later was a dental assistant. Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Platte City, Missouri. She served as a deaconess, was a member of Flock of Ages Sunday School Class and Christian Women's Fellowship. Mary also belonged to Platte City Study Club, Platte County Historical Society and Eastern Star ( past Worthy Matron).
Mary is survived by her daughter Ann Bauer of Sun Prairie and numerous nieces and nephews. She was extremely fond of her son in law Michael Bauer, and of the extended Bauer family including Mike's mother, siblings,children and grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband A. J. in 2002, her parents Walter Porter and Anna Thies Porter, two sisters Lora and Opal and two brothers Carl and Ralph.
A private memorial gathering will be held at Kindred Hearts at a later date. She was considered a special lady by her friends at Kindred Hearts, and loved the coffee clutches, Farkle and Bingo.
